Nigeria's solar market is dominated by distributed and off-grid systems, solar home systems, C&l rooftops, and private mini-grids, driven by persistent grid unreliability and high generator Solar PV capacity tripled from about 385 MW in 2024 to roughly 1.19 GW in 2025, driven mainly by decentralised systems that account for 1.15 GW of the total installed capacity, representing almost 96% of the market. While battery storage grows even faster (=305% YoY) from around 10 grids and C&l solar despite remaining small in absolute terms.
